Because children have a much more limited vocabulary, in terms of, being able to articulate and express their emotions through words; art can become an important form of expression, emotional expression for children. Some of the things that children can be encouraged to do after the loss of a pet, to express their feelings, to think about their pet in positive way and remember them in positive ways, would be doing drawings of the pet or could be making sculptures of the pet. Anything that engages their creativity and helps them to be able to express what they are feeling in terms of their grief. "Very good Bailey. Is that the head?" If your child is at the age where they are writing, poetry can be a form of expression, a way to remember their pet. Also, it can be very helpful; they can write stories about their pet. So definitely writing is another form of being to express themselves, for kids that are older.
