Modeling Clay Shaping Tools
Okay, I continued on and I used coils to build the bowl up. And so now I have a pretty decent shape and but it's still, it's not where I want it to be. So what I'll do is I'll use my shaping tools and I can use this rib to kind of form a smoother shape around the edges. And then you want to hold the opposite side while you're doing this and this will help, because it's got a smooth edge, just kind of help you shape the bowl. Then I'm just going to go all the way around the edge because my fingertips kind of leave indentions everywhere. This is like a uniform shape. So I'll just get the excess off here. And then just kind of going around and shaping it. And it's spreading the bowl a little bit. Then I can use my thumb and fingers down here for the outside. I can use this wooden tool. I mean each tool is designed for one thing but you can actually do other things with it as well. So I can smooth out the edge of this bowl just by kind of dragging it up and it's more of a uniform consistency on the outside. Or I can use it to flatten. This is a little thin right here so I'm going to add in a little bit more and come around like that. Reshape it. And then you just keep playing with it until you get the shape you want with the shaping tools.
