Using Coils for Clay Bowls
Okay, now that we have the base, one technique is to use coils and what I can do is, take this ribbon tool and I can just cut them off like this. Well, that's not what I wanted to do , but that's alright. I'll just get some long strips here and just kind of roll them. You can do them thick or you can do them thin. And once you get them kind of rolled out, you just basically start building with the coils. And then if it's not sticking, you can just add a little water and then you can smooth as you go. Just slice off that extra bit there, throw it to the side and then let those coils meet. And then basically you can continue to do that all the way up until you get the right height of your bowl. And that's working with coils.
