Eating Healthy with Kombucha

Welcome back to Fermented Foods and, guess what, Kombucha tea. Ok, everyone has heard about this and, if you haven't, it's totally understandable. I have so many clients who say, "What are you talking about? I've never, ever heard of this stuff." Besides the fact that it is easy to obtain--it's at your health food store and actually it's quite chilly because it's kept in the refrigerated section, which is awesome. It comes in different flavors. But the reason why it's so good for you, is the fact that it's actually another fermented product which, of course, is going to give you all the beneficial bacteria and all the good digestion. But what else is good about it? Well, would you believe it? Weight loss: it actually alkalizes the system because most of us are pretty acidic because we eat a lot of acidic foods. And we need to balance ourselves out: it actually also helps with detoxing. It's very anti-aging. So, it has all these good things about it. But, what's in it? It's, basically, tea. I'm showing you green tea right now, but mostly it's made out of black tea. There are some that are made out of the green tea. But, it's basically tea and sugar and then it's fermented. And it goes through the process over a few days and it bubbles and becomes this sour-y, fizzy drink that's very enjoyable and very detoxing to the system. And it's very good for the liver, which is obviously what we all need because, don't tell me you don't imbibe in too much alcohol and greasy foods and all the other stuff that could clog up the liver. So, we definitely need to detox. Of course, when you start drinking it, just take little sips maybe once every day until you get used to it because the detoxification, if you drink the whole thing right away, might not make you feel very well. And then you say, "Blech! This doesn't make me feel very well." And then you won't drink it. So, start off with little sips of it, initially. Some good things about this: it has plenty of B vitamins and folic acid, which are awesome. Another good thing it that there's a certain acid in here, and that's what actually cleanses the liver and it's really good for you. So, no matter what, always drink Kombucha. Little sips at a time at first and then you can have a whole bottle later on. So, drink up. Oh, I don't have that much left either! Fizzy! Tasty! Good stuff!
