How to Apply a Butterfly Twist

Now for the butterfly twist this is obviously a martial arts movement but you may have seen it in a lot of movies. Traditional Chinese kung fu movies or various modern day action movies where people are doing some crazy twists up in the air. Well, the martial arts, one of the many martial arts applications of this movement, though it's pretty flashy with you flying parallel to the ground in the air, is to avoid and go upward to avoid some sort of attack or some various movement. Now, when your body goes up like this the key thing is not to just go in a vertical direction. It's to move upwards. It's to float up which is similar to a butterfly movement. So basically as you jump up and your body goes upwards, then you're able to avoid attack. For example, if someone was swinging something or someone was doing a higher kick at you and you are able to go above your normal waist height from simply just jumping. So, for today that was one of the martial arts applications of the butterfly twist. And coming up next we're going to show you some tips on how to safely and successfully complete the butterfly twist.
