Food Gift Baskets

Hi, I'm Chrissy Lyons on behalf of Expert Village and we're continuing to talk about gift baskets. But this doesn't look like a basket. As we've said in several of the segments we've done, using different items can make it really interesting when you're trying to give a gift basket idea. Sometimes the utensil that you use or the vessel that you put things in can be part of the gift itself. This serving platter is a nice idea as is a big mixing bowl and a festive idea if you're doing another food theme. Actually, food theme is what we're talking about today with respect to this particular basket. These themes are really nice and they're easy to do, especially if you know the people well and you know the types of food they like. Putting together a theme can be a lot of fun and it's easy. There are different things you can do right off the top of your head without hardly thinking about what to put in them. Italian, very popular. Chinese. Today we're going to be talking about Indian and then sushi. But one thing you must remember, when you're putting a food themed gift basket together, it always has to be something that you don't refrigerate. Now when I say sushi of course, we don't include the fish. Let's talk about what we've got going here today. I put together a really nice serving platter and in it, we have the different Indian themed items that go together. Something very popular is the tikka masala, it's a cooking sauce. And then again too, you must be careful because they come in the different strengths, mild, medium and hot. So always read the label to see which one you're going for. And then we have another one which is very similar in the curry tasting field. We've got a tangy lemon and cilantro cooking sauce. This one is medium. Now a lot of this also happens to be vegetarian for those of you who are looking for that. We've got Bombay potatoes which are potatoes and chick peas, very popular in the Indian curry. Then we have vegetable curry itself, chick pea curry, and then in the back here, I've put a package of puffadoans which really are like a very thick chip and if you ever go into an Indian restaurant, they'll serve them in the front, kind of like you would get in a Mexican restaurant where you would get chips and salsa, well this is, puffadoans are served that way. And we've got all these things which are easy to prepare and they're good for you as well. This is a food theme, Indian curry. Hope you enjoy. Try them.
