Filing Cash Based Accounting for Taxes
Hi, Tom Choisnet again. Enrolled agent. Within the audit process of the Internal Revenue Service, there is an appeals program. Your auditor usually disclose, in fact, he is required to disclose that at the time of the original audit. If your not in absolute agreement after battling the IRS through the normal audit procedure, it is recommended that you do appeal. It's a very clean and intended to be smooth process with a much friendlier approach than the first line audit. We've found that most appeal cases do result in a little bit more favorable determination. There will be several hearings under the appeals program. If you so desire you can bail out at any time. The appeals process will go right to the door of the tax court. They have a small tax case procedure that will enable your tax accountant and enrolled agent to represent you or in effect represent you right to the door of the tax court. Once the case is docketed and heard, your tax accountant can be called in as a witness. It's a quite thorough procedure. We certainly recommend that if your not in agreement to use the appeal process. Thank you very much. It's Tom Choisnet.
