Timing Changes in Music

Hi, I'm Austin McBride here with Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to use timing changes in the middle of a song to alter the mood and feel of a song. So what a timing changes in the middle of a song would be is going from a 4/4, to a 6/8, or from a 6/8 to a 5/4. Basically what it does is it's going along in a feel, giving it a rest, giving it some sort of transition and then after that, taking on a whole new persona within the song. Same way changing key might affect a song. So here we'll take something that was staring out as up beat, happy, maybe a little bit danceable, and then moving it into a dark faze, by switching up the timing of it, slowing it down a bit, and also changing the time signature as well. So here we go. And we can switch back to it and make it poppy again. Thanks for joining me.
