Adding Transfers to Clay Beads
Hi. I'm Melina and I'm with Expert Village and I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful transfer polymer bracelet. In the next step we're going to add the transfer to the tops of the beads. Basically what we're going to do, you're going to take each design, you're going to place it face down on the bead and you're going to press down as hard as you can. Now, what I did earlier is I took a few designs and I printed them on iron transfer paper. And you can get this anywhere. You can get this at an art store; you can get it at an office supply store. You're going to print any design that you want, right from your printer, on to this paper. And the paper, it has a glue, and once that glue is heated it sticks the paint to whatever surface you put the paper on. So, normally, you would take an iron and iron this but since you're going to bake the clay anyway you don't need to iron it. You're just going to stick the paper on and you're going to press it in pretty deep. Now, say you don't have iron transfer paper and you wanted to do something like this. What you could do is draw your designs and run the design through a copy machine. Make a copy of the design. The ink that's used in copy machines is also good for this. So what you would do is you would take the design that you want, that's printed in copy paper and you would put some of this, bakeable transfer color medium on to the clay and then you put that paper on top and then you bake that in the oven. Because essentially this is glue. We don't need to glue because we already have glue on our paper because this is an iron transfer. So you're going to press each one down so that it's firmly into the clay.
