Tae Kwon Do 540 Kick Stance

Hi my name is Caleb Labarda and I am a third degree belt with Expert Village and today I am going to be teaching you to do a 540. Let's talk about your stance. The stance is very important for your 540. When you take off you don't want to be facing the front or frontways. You want to make sure that you are sideways just like if you are sparring. You have to go into it sideways. Now when you go into it you want to prepivot your foot to the back so when I do it I like to wind up, prepivot, and then go, spin, jump and then kick. Let's do it one more time. Be sure you have a good stance, make sure it is nice and solid, if you are wobbling around you want to make sure the floor is not slippery because if it is slippery you are going to fall down. Now wind up, prepivot that foot, right when I turn around my knee from behind me is going to wind up with my body and kick. When I am facing the back I am going to prepivot, wind up, then prepivot, turn and when I face back my knee is going to come up, turn all the way around and then kick. You want to line up your knee with your target before you kick so when you do a 540 you will look like you are doing it propertly. It will look like this from here wind up and that is what your 540 is going to look like.
