Tae Kwon Do 540 Kick Practice Steps

Hi, my name is Caleb Labarda. I'm the third degree black belt Tae Kwon Do. I'm here with Expert Village and today I'm going to be teaching you how to do a five- forty. O.k. now the next step in doing your five - forty, after practicing jumping over your foot, putting your foot out and jumping over it, o.k. The next step would be is to practice jumping over your knee. Because remember, the five - forty you want to jump off the same leg, kick with it and land on it, o.k. So, go ahead and put your knee up like this, o.k. get your guards up, o.k. now just from standing, this is good practice o.k. you want to do about ten of these before you and make sure you get it down, do about ten. So, we're going to stand here, jump over your knee and land on it. So, from here, jump, jump over your knee, and land on it, go in a full circle, o.k. So, when I jump, I'm going to land about one - eighty and I'm going to turn all the way back around to one - eighty, o.k. So, the five - forty is going to be jump, half turn, all the way back around to here o.k. So, that's going to be your five - forty, so it's not actually your five - forty spin, it's more of a three - sixty but when you do it, you're actually going to be jumping here, going all the way around so that it turns into your five - forty, o.k. So, once again for your practice, put your knee up, step, sit and jump, go over and land on that knee. So step, and over, land on that knee, o.k. And, that's going to be your next step for your five - forty. You must get those steps down, before you start moving up trying to do the five - forty.
