Hi, there. This is Eddie Matthews on behalf of Expert Village. A few tips for announcers trying to get a career in radio. In this segment, we're going to talk about promotions. The marketing of the radio station and marketing within the station. What type of contests do you want to run? This is where you really have to know your audience. What are they going to be appealed to? Market's something that's topical: who's smarter than a kid is? We've seen the TV show, see if you can get some local kids involved. See if they can have a showdown of who the smartest kids are. Invite them to the radio station and then get the parents involved in this one as well. You get some great press and publicity out of that. Also invite the media as well, too. The newspapers, TV, even if it's a local community station. If it's a slow news day, chances are you will get an awful lot of publicity, because it's something that people are talking about. That's the whole thing. You want to get something that's topical, you want to do something as you observe in the community what people are reacting to. And if it's something really good, if it's something that's humorous, it's something that will sell itself. And, once again, if it is something that you can sell, take it to the sales department. Because this is the whole object of what you're trying to do is make some money. Not only for yourself, but for the radio station, and get that extra exposure. That's what this business is all about.
