Hand Tools for RC Model Workshop

Hi, my name's Curtis Enlow and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to plan, setup and equip a work area for radio controlled models. Let's talk about some of the small, miscellaneous tools that you're going to need or that are really going to come in handy for you. A small set of needle-nose pliers with a real fine tip is going to be invaluable. You'll find that you use those a lot. Small duck-billed or flat faced pliers like this are really handy for forming materials, serving a variety of purposes. Some things that I have found that I use a lot, surprisingly often are a variety of small dental picks like this. You can find these at tool outlets, hardware stores, some electronic supply places have them, you'll use those a lot for getting into hard to reach places, picking out loose materials, that sort of thing. Those work great for a lot of purposes. One of my favorite tools is one of these folding multi-purpose tools that have a variety of tools in them. We've all seen these before. These are great for taking it into the field. They have pliers, they have wire cutters, scissors, screwdrivers, all kinds of things in one little handy package and this is actually one of my favorite tools to use. Of course you'll need things like scissors, various tools like that. Another surprisingly useful tool are paper clips. These clamps, these paper clamps, you get at any office supply place, are great for holding parts together while they glue or while you drill fastener holes in them. Miniature clothes pins like this come in really handy. Of course the old standard of all hobbyists are the classic exacto knives and its great to have a variety of both handle sizes and different blades that you can use. They will come in of course very handy. In addition, exacto saws. You can get these for cutting wood or metal and those come in very handy as well.
