Dry Rubbing Spices For Cajun Deep Fried Turkey

This is David for expertvillage.com. We are getting to the point now where our bird has been injected. Now we can and this is an optional thing and it is really flavorful. You can add actually dry rub on the outside. I use salt; Basil leaves here, some Oregano, some Thyme, some black pepper and paprika. You can also add Cayenne if you like it a little spicier. You get this all together and what you want to do is rub this on your bird probably the night before and let it all soak in. So when you put in the oil you won’t loose much of it and you’ll have the entire flavor right in the skin. So here’s a way to do, you can just do your mixes here and just rub it in really well; just like a massage. You get all those great flavors into the meat. You do this of course on all sides and make sure you get the legs and the wings in. This will make a very flavorful bird for you too. So you will have flavoring inside and out.
