Essential Tools for RC Model Workshop

Hi, my name is Curtis Enlow. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to plan, set up and equip a work area for radio control models. Now, one of the must haves in the world of RC modeling is a set of metric net setters and metric Allen head fastener drivers. Most RC models are build oversees either in Asia, in Europe so you're going to definitely need these in addition to whatever SAE tools that you might have. The allen head drivers range in size from 1.5 mm up to 4 mm. The net setters are from 4 mm to 8mm. These are the most popular sizes, you may find that you need some different ones, if that is the case these are usually available most tool outlets, larger hardware stores will have something like this. Now, in addition to those you may have a set already various size allen wrenches such as these that I have collected over the years many of which are SAE but some of which are metric as well and those might come in handy various times. But these area must have you'll definitely will need these. Another must have for working on any small mechanical devices including RC aircraft are small precision screw drivers. These come in a variety of places, you can get them at craft outlets stores, tool outlets, hardware stores, electronics supply houses, anything that deals with small precision mechanical devices will have these. One of my favorite to use is this here, this has a collect on the end and a variety of interchangeable bits of different sizes that you can put in the end clamp down and then use. This is really nice, its kind of a nice all in one tool. Some more items that are almost a must have , especially you do a lot on your own assembly or fabrication and or installing custom parts anything like that is a set of miniature drills. And while a lot of these will work in rototools I tend you prefer a pen vies like this so you drill by hand a lot of these especially the tiniest little bits you get down to the small sizes they are really not designed to take a lot of torque or power. In addition to set of drills you may want to get yourself a set of small taps. So you can thread your own holes and these come in really handy especially if you need to do repairs or once again you are fabricating your own parts.
