Injecting the Marinade For Cajun Deep Fried Turkey

This is David for expertvillage.com. We are deep frying a turkey today. We’ve come to the part where we are going to inject it. This is every Cajun’s friend here. This is a Cajun injector. You can get this on-line or at any kitchen store. I would imagine they would have it there; very nice to have. You can do your deep fried turkey without injecting it but it just adds a whole dimension of flavor to it. So it is pretty easy. It is like a syringe. You put it into your liquid that you’ve made and just draw that up like this and just bring it over to your bird. You are going to want to inject almost the entire bird here. This one, you can get a Butterball if you like. I think they are already injected with butter but then this is an extra dimension or you can just get a regular bird, which is what I recommend. Then you just put in your injector into the meat and you put it in as many points as you can and you will be doing that with the leg and the thigh, back around here and all through the breast is good; same on the other side. You can even get into the wings. Just be sure to use all your marinade and this will come out moist and juicy. So anyway once you’ve done that, you are going to want to make sure that you get a paper towel and wipe away any of the marinade that is running down the sides.
