How to Add Crystals to T-Shirts

"Hi, I'm Melina Piroso and welcome to Expert Village. For the following step, we're going to apply Swarovski crystals to our shirt. So Swarovski crystals, they sell a special type of crystal that is made and ready to put onto clothing and garments. So they're called hot, fixed Swarovski crystals and I don't know if you can see but they've got a tiny little layer of glue on the bottom. And the way to know if you have a Swarovski hot fixed crystal is you look at it and you're going to see a little bit of ridged marks where the glue is and that's how you know that there's glue on the bottom because they look just like the other regular crystals except they've got a layer of glue on the bottom. So what we're going to do, we're going to position our crystals and you can put them anywhere you want but again, you have to be careful because you cannot iron on top of your transfer. You want to be careful because when you're using a thin fabric, sometimes the glue has a tendency to leak through and you'll glue your shirt together. So we're going to go ahead and I have a scrap piece of fabric and I'm putting it behind this crystal here that I'm going to iron. And now I'm going to iron on top of the crystal and I'm going to be very careful that I don't iron on the transfer. The tip of my iron, pressing down very hard and I'm going to hold for about one minute. Essentially what's happening, the iron is melting the glue on the back of the crystal and the glue is sinking into the shirt. And there we go, once our crystals have melted onto the shirt, we're done, and it's ready to wear."
