How to Create a Latin Character Look

Hi, welcome back to Expert Village. My name is Kat Litrenta and I'm a professional entertainer and I'm going to show you how to put some professional makeup on your face when you're doing your Latin numbers. Our Lola is so much fun to do. Now, first of all, I would say get a dark pair of pantyhose and cut off the legs. Two reasons for that, because while we put makeup on our face, we have to drag this over all that makeup that wouldn't be good. So, do this first. It holds the hair out of your way so that you get to your nice clean face. It also, underneath your wig, will keep my blonde hair from sticking through my dark wig or coming out of the bottom of the wig. So, now that we have that in place, we want to use some dark makeup, darker blush. Now, I usually use the pancake makeup for Lola because this is the darkest thing that I have. So, you'll need the sponge and you'll need water. Make sure you bring all these things yourself. You can never depend on them to have these things for you. Your makeup case should have red lipstick in it. It should always have little applicators of all kinds. You should always have bobby pins in there and you should always have safety pins, because you never know when a costume is going to break. Now, you wet that and you put it that on your pancake and this is extra heavy makeup. And you stroke it on and the blending is really, really very important. When you're through with that, you have a powder. Then, you put the powder on over it. This holds down the sweating and, if you can, keep it somewhere on the side on stage, so that you can take it out every once and a while. It's a hot costume. It's a hot show. And you're going to get hot and you're going to start to sweat. So, if you can dab yourself with some nice powder, but don't make it look like you're sneaking it, make it part of the show. Get a big compact, maybe from one of those resale shops. Go out and find a really big one and make it part of the show. Everything will be fun and they'll have a good time if you make it a good time for yourself, too.
