How to Pick Latin Music for a One Woman Show

Hi, welcome back to Expert Village. My name is Kat Litrenta and I'm a professional entertainer. And in this segment, we are going to select the music for our Latin show. Now, we have many, many things to choose from. This one here is, also has the steps to the dance the Macarena. Now, I know that some people are, you know, maybe not good at dancing. But when you start getting them up and they hear the beginning of that Macarena, it's so much fun. You don't sing that so, it gives your voice a chance to rest, but you dance it. Oh, that's a lot of fun. Perhaps, getting Westside Story would be the way to go. There's so many tunes there that everybody recognizes and I've taken a few off of there. Now, with Jay and the Americans, there's Cara Mi Amor. But one that I do where I bring people up on the stage is "Come a little bit closer, you're my kind of guy." And if you can do a little bit of a Carmen Miranda-type accent, you know, it adds to the flavor of the character. Just roll your Rs here and there and it'll come through. It's a lot of fun. This one here is Barry Manilow. Now, you'd say, "he's not a Latin." But there's the Copacabana. Oh that song is so much fun, especially when you act it out. It's a lot of fun and once you've made the selection of your music, then we can go on to the studio and get a show put together just for you.
