Hi, This is Douglas Willott, from the Expert Village, and today we're going to talk about how to decide between purchasing a PC or a Mac. Let's say you want a lot of media capability in your PC or your Macintosh. Now, by media capability, I mean the ability to deal with music, video, photos, etc. Macs have a heavy advantage over PCs in this department. Especially for the casual user, Mac has a program on it called iMovie that makes it so you can take your home movies and edit them very easily. And this should be standard now, with all Macintosh. Additionally, if you're more advanced, you can go ahead and go to Final Cut, which is slowly becoming an industry standard as far as editing goes especially on DV tapes. Now PC does have some good programs for this, specifically, Sony Vegas is a good program for editing on PC. However, Final Cut, like I said, becoming an industry standard, it's very easy to use, it's very user friendly. If you have more advanced functions that you need, it's going to lay it out for you and streamline it in a nice way. iMovie is even easier to use even though there are less options. When it comes to music, the same thing. The basic music program on your Macintosh is Garage Band and that's a good way to edit songs and manipulate music. You can also do voice casting or pod casting through that, recorded in that sense. There are, again, programs you can use on the PC for that, but it's not designed with that specifically with that in mind. Mac has gone out of its way to tap into that market over the last few years. And it works great on the Macintosh computer in that sense. As far as photos go, PCs and Macs have about the same capability for loading your photos, editing your photos. Photoshop is a very commonly used program and it works on either machine great. If you're just working on photography, there's not necessarily a greater benefit from one to the other. At that point, we'll just talk about what specific software do you like to use and which computer is it going to run on, the Mac or the PC. But if it comes to movie editing, or music editing, I prefer the Mac.
