Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. On behalf of Expert Village, I am going to talk to you about how to recognize and also reduce the risk of food poisoning. Now in this statement, we are going to talk about food preparation. The first thing you always must do before you touch any food or any surfaces or any utensils is to wash your hands. Make sure your hands are nice and clean and use soap to wash your hands and also to remember to clean the surface that you are going to prepare your foods on and the utensils that you are going to use that has been washed in soapy water that has been sanitized. Also, don't leave foods out for too long on the counter top because you are going to get mold and stuff and that?s going to increase your risk of food poisoning. And any kind of food that you buy from the supermarket, even though it says washed and prepared, don't assume that it?s clean. You must always wash it for yourself before you start cooking and preparing so a quick rinse is all you need for vegetables. For meats and stuff, make sure that when you buy it you also when you unwrap it, you also give it a good rinse under the water just in case. It decreases your risk of getting the food poisoning. So this is some of the ways you should consider when you are actually preparing food to decrease the risk of getting food poisoning.
