How to Sew A Corner Seam
Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. So we’ve learned how to make basic seams and some fancy seams and a curved seam. Now I’m going to show you how to do a corner seam. In corner seams are really good if you are making say a pillow or a purse or anything that you’re going to be using right angles like an L-shape. So you take your fabric and I’m just going to be drawing a line half way down and then a bit across to use as a guide. You take it to your machine and you’re going to be placing your needle right above the line and you’re just going to stitch like you’re stitching a normal seam, you go all the way down and what’s going to happen is once you get to the point or the corner you’re going to use you’re manual balance foot just pull it in a little bit and always make sure whenever you turn fabric that your needle is in securely into the fabric. Because if your needle is hovering about it and you turn it you’re going to loose your place, so you just lift up your presser foot and just pivot your fabric around and you see how if you keep the needle in the fabric there’s no way for it to shift or anything, whereas if it wasn’t in this can go all over the place and kind of not give you a very nice seam. Put your presser foot down and you’re just going to stitch out just like you do your regular seam, back-tacking at the end…and there you have a corner seam.
