How to Sew A Curve Seam
Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. So the next topic we’re going to discuss is curved seams. You’re going to need to how to learn how to sew in a curve if you’re going to need pants or any type of rounded corner bags or anything that sort of needs a curve. In curve seams are really easy but to make it to be able to illustrated better for you I’m just going to draw a little simple curve and take the fabric to the machine and we’re just simply going to start stitching, again remember to back-tack, you’re going to go all the way down and when you get to the curve what you’re going to want to do is start going a bit slower. If you feel like you’re not advanced enough with the presser foot, feel free to use the little balance wheel and you can just slowly go and as you are stitching what you’re going to want to do is pick up your presser foot and slightly turn the fabric. So you pick up the foot, you turn it slightly and then you stitch, again keeping very minimal pressure. Put down the needle into the fabric, turn it a little bit more and continue stitching, make sure the needle is again into the fabric, pick up the presser foot again, turn it more and stitch. And again there really is not a problem if you just want to do it almost manually if you don’t feel confident with being able to keep your foot off the presser foot just to allow for better control. And then you’re going to turn it at a right angle and just finish up your seam and again remember to back-tack at the end…and that’s really all there is to it to make a curved seam.
