How to Sew a Flat Felt Seam
Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. So we’ve learned how to make a basic seam now we’re going to learn how to make a flat felt seam. And that’s just a great everyday sort of sports wear seam, it’s really good for heavier fabrics like denim or khakis sort of pants. To do this it’s super simple you take your fabric, you line them to wrong side to wrong side, you’re going to do just a basic seam about 5/8 of an inch. Then we’re going to be pressing the seam to one side, so you’re just going to take your fabric with your seam and press it to one side…once you have it nice and flat you’re just going to take the very edge and fold it underneath, pressing it as we go. Put a few pins in here to secure it and then you’re going to take it back to your machine and stitch up. So you’ve ironed your seam, you pinned it in place, now it’s ready to stitch. You’re going to just be stitching up to the very, very edge all the way, so line up your needle with the very edge, put down your presser foot remember to back-tack and just go all the way down the seam. Take out your pins and there you have it a flat felt seam. For more info on this topic visit my website at candiland.com.
