Hi, my name is Erin Lee Neumeyer for Expert Village. I'm a photographer living in Venice. I've been doing photography for probably about ten years now, professionally here in Venice for two. I specialize in head shots and portraits and just taking great pictures. So today I'm going to talk to you about compact digital cameras also referred to as point and shoots and how you can get amazing pictures with them. Today I am going to talk to you about compact digital cameras and why you might consider choosing a smaller point and shoot as compared to some of the larger DSLR's. So the camera that I personally own is a Canon, I have sort of an affinity towards Canons although there are a lot of great manufacturers out there so you can definitely shop around and choose the brand that fits you best. So this particular model is the Power Shot. It is a 7. 1 megapixel camera and they're great because they're so small. I mean this is about the size of a deck of cards so you could easily throw it in your bag, you can bring it everywhere and one of my number one tips that I always tell people is have your camera with you. That's how you take great pictures. So this is an easy camera to always have with you and you can just pull it out and it's very intuitive, simple and easy to use. Today compact digital cameras actually have amazing features and controls and I'm going to go over many of those later on. There's also manual operations that are available on these like you can set your film speed, your aperture, you can control the lighting with them, it's pretty amazing. So then there's also a zoom lens built into these cameras, which sometimes you have to be a little bit careful because if you've got it in your pocket, that might be a problem. I'm going to go over protecting your camera later but these cameras also offer video which is a nice trick especially with our internet savvy users today. It's very simple to video or update your blog.
