What I'm going to show you in the next video is how to combine everything for a better and more productive practice experience. I've showed you how to Comp chords, how to Walk Bass, different arpeggios, how to just play the Bass a lot more proficiently than just playing Bass riffs that we hear on the radio. I try to get all my students to practice this way by getting a Jazz tune, or any type of tune, and learning the melodies of them, the harmony behind them, the chords, how to Walk Bass on them, how to do everything and then combine it all and kind of have a jam session with themselves. So that they start hearing and learning, not only how to play Bass, but they start thinking, "Okay, what would a piano player do?" Because he's going to start comping chords. Or, "What would a horn player do?" Because now the Bass player's covering the melody. I find this is the best way to learn how to play just music, not just Bass, but to play music is to cover all aspects of it and do that in practice setting. With this next video I'm going to show you how I would go about practicing "Straight, No Chaser". I'm going to play it in a real Jazz form. I'm going to play the melody, then I'm going to Walk Bass, then I'm going to solo over it in order to get, I'm going to solo, and then I'm going to play the melody out. That way I've covered all aspects of it. That's what I'm going to do in the next video.
