Basic Sewing Patterns
Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. Today we’re going to talk about pattern basics. There are some great patterns out there, really fun styles that you can find in most craft stores or fabric stores another good place to find patterns is only an auction site you can get some great vintage patterns out there. So in this particular pattern it’s a vintage slit from the 50’s or 60’s and it’s going to have a lot of information, it comes with a little guide that tells you exactly how to lay out your fabric to best maximize it when you cut out. And on the back of the pattern you’re going to see the different measurements say for this particular size 12 what size bust, waist and hip measurement would coincide with this size. It’s also going to give you a guide about how much fabric to buy for this particular pattern, now fabric ranges in sizes from say 36 inches wide for very fine silk or a really nice great linen to 108 perhaps for an upholstery fabric or a big sheeting fabric. So depending if you buy say a 45 or a 60 you’re going to have to buy different amounts, so if you just check that out on the back then you should be okay.
