Preparing for Acting Audition Questions

Hi, I'm Dr. Charles Grimes and I'm speaking on behalf of Expert Village about preparing for the business end of an audition and preparing for call backs. The director may well ask you a number of questions just to begin seeing a little bit about who you are and how you can respond to the question, the pressure of being asked a number of questions right on the spot. So again you might want to script a few answers and know the kinda questions they are quite likely to ask you. For instance, what have you been doing lately. If you're asked that by a director have something positive to say. If you haven't been in a play recently. Say all the thing you've been doing to get yourself ready to be in a play. You've been doing voice lessons. You've been polishing your stage combat skills. Similar things that will announce you as a person who's keeping on working, bettering himself without necessarily being involved in any production. They might just say tell me something about yourself. Say something about how much acting means to you. About how hard you've worked. The challenges you've surmounted. Say something about your life outside acting that makes you sound interesting and unique. After all they don't want to be associated with you just because you are a brilliant actor but because you are a nice person as well. And they may ask you a challenging question. All these questions are meant to see how you speak on the spot and they basically boil down to why you? Why is that I should hire you? Tell something about yourself that would make me want to hire you. So if you realize that that is the subtext of those questions you can arm yourself with some ready answers. Be prepared to give them forth and if you are asked questions realize it is a sign of interest. It is a good thing. That's what you want.
