King's Pawn Opening Strategy in Chess
Hi! My name is Ken and I am here today to talk to you about Chess. In the previous segment, I talked about the King's Pawn opening. Once again to review that, the King's Pawn comes out 2 spaces and the correspondence on the other side is for the other King's Pawn to come out 2 spaces. The Knight then attacks and the other Knight then attacks to protect the Pawn. Then we have the Bishop coming out to either this place or this place. Remember the Bishop moves in a diagonal. Now what's the advantage? The advantage is when the Bishop is here it puts pressure on this Pawn here. When the Bishop is here, it attacks this Rook. What happens next? If it's my move, I would then take this Knight and then the corresponding move for black would be to take the Pawn as well. This doubles up the Pawn. It's not good. It's an advantage to white. Meanwhile this Pawn is still open to attack unless it is protected. So the black is either going to have to move the Bishop out to protect it or it is going to have to move the Queen out, something along those lines. Okay. That's the opening King's Pawn opening with variations with the Bishop going either to the front space here or attacking the Knight over here. Thank you very much.
