How to Tie Balloon Animals

Hi. I'm Dan McLellan and I'm with Expert Village. Now we're going to talk about how to tie off a balloon, specifically a two sixty balloon, which is the type of balloon typically used for making balloon animals. This technique could be used for almost any balloon in tying a knot. Something that most people have a lot of difficulty doing. Now, to start things off with, the first thing I'm going to do is, I'm going to let a little bit of air out of the balloon. This will give me some room to work with at the top for tying the knot. It also gives some flexibility in the balloon which will help from popping as we actually make the creation. Now notice, I have the balloon firmly pinched with my right thumb and forefinger, keeping the air from escaping the balloon. I'm going to take my left hand two fingers and put them over the uninflated area of the balloon underneath my right hand just like this. Pull down and then turn in a circle. I now have a loop here, and if I simply take the two fingers and pull them apart, that's going to give me some space to take the tip of the balloon, which is in my right hand, and put it into that circle, and then take my left hand and pull that through the circle. And we now have a nice knot and none of the air is going to come out of the balloon.
