Carving Techniques in Pottery

In this clip we're going to talk about carving. I've gone ahead and put my pot back on the wheel and I've grabbed two tools, two metal loop tools. Again, different sizes for making different kinds of marks. We're going to go ahead and take our big loop tool and gently on the side here just make a nice carve up the side of the pot. Wipe this dry and incising through the slip that I have on the side of my pot. I want to be very confident and direct with my marks and that will help to make it look, it will help my line to have a good mark, a good size mark with it. Again, I can use this other loop tool to make a different kind of mark. You can tell that my pot is still wet here on the wheel with my loop tool manipulating the side of my pot.
