In this clip we're going to introduce you to the wheel. This is a tool commonly used in ceramics to throw pottery, or to work on the wheel. Today we have a Brent wheel, which is an electric wheel. I like it very much. It is a common wheel you may find in any ceramics studio. It is electric. There are other kinds of wheels which are kick wheels, which are motorized by your own foot. We have an on and off switch over here, of which we'll turn on. We have a switch that makes it go right or left, depending on whether you're right or left handed. Again, it's made by Brent, which is a reputable name in ceramics. We have a foot pedal down here which is used to power the wheel. And then let's go ahead and I'll show you, I just step on the foot, and that activates and makes the wheel go around. It has several different speeds. I can go very slowly if I need to, or I can step on it, the pedal, and go much faster. We will use all these different speeds when working on the wheel. I have a splash pan here to keep me from getting too wet with the clay.
