The Off Center Technique in Pottery

DAVID GIBSON: I'm going to take my pot off the wheel here and make an off-centered spiral by putting--taking my pot and making it off-centered. So I'm going to pick up my platter and I'm going to set it off to the side here and put another bat down on the wheel head. Push that off to the side. Push this new bat on. This is the beauty of the bats is I can take the pot on and off the wheel. I highly recommend them. Then I'm going to push this platter back down off center on this piece so it spins around off center, like that. I'm going to then take my slip and decorate this pot with a brush and have it be off-center. I think that's going to look pretty neat.
