Centering the Clay in Pottery

DAVID GIBSON: In this next clip of advanced pottery, we're going to work on centering our clay. Again, it's important to get our clay on center. No matter how good we are--I've got a bigger piece of clay here, use plenty of water. I want to stress or I stress to students to find your own way with throwing. I use quite a bit of water with throwing and some people use less water. Some people like to throw a little bit tighter, but that's just the way that I've worked it and that's just the way that I like to throw so find your own way through it. If you use a lot of water, great; if not, that's great too but--try to be an individual--embrace your individuality with throwing and centering. I can bring the clay up into a cone here. I'm trying to get all the particles aligned in the center, but find your own way when centering.
