Let's set up to do some recording in Pro Tools. We want to record a voice over. So, lets go ahead make a new session real quick. We are going to select 48 kilohertz and 16 bit, 24 bit depending on what you want to do. Voice over 16 bit will be fine. The good tip about recording your going to gathering more and more media on your hard drive you have to make sure that your hard drive actually has space to record. That's why I always like to have a Fire Wire drive connected and I'm not actually going to recording and cluttering up my internal hard drive where the system software resides. So, I'm going to go ahead and pick my effects drive. I'm going to go effects four and I'm going to record Vio and click save. Now, any media record is going to be going to this hard drive right here not cluttering up my hard drive. That's really important thing to do. Let's go ahead make a new track. I think what I want to do is make a couple of tracks. One track I'm going to record and the other tracks below I'm going to put the takes I like. In that?s a common practice. Let's go ahead and make five new tracks and we will name the top track what we are going to record. What ever the spot is. So, we just label it Vio right now. One of the things about recording with Pro Tools is what ever you name this track it will name the files you record. So, if I hit record right now it's going to create a file called Vio. And, if I go ahead and record again it will be Vio 2 and so fourth. So, there it appears Vio 1and if I hit record again it's going to make another file called Vio 2. Which is a good way keep track as tape 1, take 2 and so fourth. So, that's the beginning of getting our self set up for recording.
