Nurse an Orphaned Kitten

Hi! I’m Dr. Adrienne Mulligan and I am the owner of Camp Verde Veterinary Clinic and I am here on behalf of Expert Village.com to talk to you today about caring for kittens. If you find yourself having to foster a kitten or a litter of kittens, the things that the mother would typically take care of are things that you are going to find that will become your task. One of the things that a kitten needs is to be stimulated with a warm cloth, cotton balls or maybe even a little que-tip to help the kitten learn to defecate and urinate. The other thing you will need to do will be to nurse the kitten and you will want to do that with a milk replacer. The bottle that is commonly found is about a 4 ounce bottle and they come just like this but you can find them with smaller nipples and that can be a very important thing because when kittens are very little, they might need a tiny nipple. So this is a very good pack to get and you will need to feed them during the first couple of weeks they need to eat about 6 times a day and they will let you know because they will get restless. Whenever they are restless, they are ready to eat. As they get a little older in the next couple of weeks, they need to only be fed about 4 times a day and eventually you can get it down to about 3 times a day by 3 to 4 weeks of age.
