How to Play the Improv Relay Game

ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: The next game we're going to talk about is the game called replay. Basically, the team will do a scene and then they'll have to redo that scene in several different types of genres. Genres are anything from Shakespeare, to musical theater, to a la carte, just anything that is a style of theater, television, music, etcetera. So, for this, we're going to start by just doing a generic really quick scene. I'll go ahead and let Jayne. You go ahead and start the scene. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: Captain Shamus, I'm sure worried about that iceberg out there. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: Patricia, don't you worry. The crew in the engine room is on top of everything. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: Well, I know out here in Alaska this--these clouds are looking pretty severe. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: So it's a real quick moment of that scene. Now we're going to give it a style. So let's say we do it in the style of film noir, which is that old kind of black-and-white detective style of film. So we're going to do the same scene but in that style. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: Captain Shamus, I don't know what to do. I'm worried about the iceberg. It's very cold and I need a scotch. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: She walked into the room. I've never seen someone legs up to the wazoo like there's no tomorrow. I knew what was going to happen and I needed to say something quick to calm my nerves. Don't worry, the crew downstairs has it all saved up for you, doll. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: Well, I don't know. What about these clouds? They're looking really severe. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: And that's basically the game of replay. As you can see, we did it in another style and you can do it in many other styles and there are hundreds of styles out there.
