How to Lay Out a T-Shirt Design

GRACE FRAGA: So, next, we are going to learn how to place the design on the T-shirt and how to go about that. So how do you go about placing it? What are the criteria for that? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Well, a lot of times, there have studies that show when people read the word that you're writing, they read it up here, eyeline wise. So if you want something that says something really bold, you're going to want to put it up here or on the upper back of somebody because people will look right there. That's where our eyes tend to go. GRACE FRAGA: Exactly. CHANTELLE TIBBS: In this--for this design, a lot of the time, you don't think something like this is really important, but where you placed this artwork on the design. We are designing a T-shirt, and that T-shirt within itself is the design. It's the completed product. So this is really just the creme de la creme. This is where you want to go. I decided that I wanted to put the design on the bottom right corner of the T-shirt 'cause I really don't have any words. I just have a message through art that I want to convey. So I want to put it really--I want to put it like this big on the T-shirt and I want it to put it on the bottom right of the T-shirt. GRACE FRAGA: Great. Yeah. So what's coming up next? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Now we're going to talk about going over our design and the ifs, ands, buts, all the last minute stuff, the stuff that's not going to get us sued.
