I followed every single video/step in Dominic's series for hanging the shelves. The outcome was fantastic! I was apprehensive at first (woman doing it alone) but the videos walked me through each step. Thanks!

How to Find a Stud for Installing Shelves

Hey, it’s Dominic with Expert Village and now I know where my brackets are going on to the wall. Now when installing these guys it’s always better to hit a stud you know behind the dry wall and if you’re going to use a dry wall screw or a wood screw, it’s always better and it’s much stronger if you get these guys into a stud. Now I do have studs on the other side of this wall but for demonstration purposes I’m not using the studs. I’m going to use the anchors because a lot of times studs are hard to find and they are not exactly where they need to be you know like I might have to move this over to the right a little bit to fit stuff but there’s no stud in that section so you have no choice, so we’re not going with the studs. So here we are here… although I’m a stud so we have a stud installing in two studs, right. So here is your brackets level, we’re going to mark our holes, now I know that here the pencil will not fit inside of that hole, so I’m going to just take a screw… bring this back up there a little bit. I’m going to take a screw and I’m going to push into the dry wall with my screw and that’s my first hole, that’s one of the first ones are that are going to get in there. So that’s that and then in the next segment I’m actually going to install the first anchor and we’re going to start getting these brackets up there. So stay tuned and watch the drilling.
