How to Use 90-Pound Drywall Anchors

Hey there, it’s Dominic with Expert Village and for this segment, is this a segment, is this a segment camera guy? He is saying yeah it’s a segment. I don’t know, I’m not an actor, I’m just a guy who knows how to install things, Mr. Handyman. So in this segment we’re going to talk about another anchor that we’re going to use and this is actually the strong guy. This is another type of wallboard dry wall anchor that you can use when installing something with some kind of serious weight. This one also just like the other two that I showed you requires absolutely no drilling. These guys are self tapping which means that they go into the dry wall. You actually use this screw gun and it screws it into the wall and there’s no drilling, there’s no detaching the drill that is what is awesome about these guys. So with this guy the other one holds about 30 lbs., the white ones hold 30 lbs., the metal ones hold about 50-60 lbs., these guys will hold about 90 lbs. and here’s how it works. I’m going to show you how it works but I’m just going to give you a little visual. When you screw this into the dry wall like so and it sits flushed what happens is we put the screw into this thing and this screw pops out like this, now remember the dry wall is going to about right here and what happens is as we screw this in and the screw is in there what happens is this back piece here closes in on the back of the wall like so. So now you have got the dry wall here and this is what holds the thing in place. Now remember the screw been here like so. I’m going to show you again but this guy will hold about 90 lbs. so that means you can take a string hang about 90 lb. weight on to that so to determine whether we’re going to use this or not is also going to matter on what we’re going to use the shelving for. We’re going to talk about the actual shelves themselves in the next segment.
