How to Add Details to Painted T-Shirts

CHANTELLE TIBBS: It looks really good. GRACE FRAGA: Thank you. Thank you. I'm excited. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. GRACE FRAGA: So, what happens if I want to do like a little...? CHANTELLE TIBBS: You can do whatever you want. GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: That's the cool thing about hand painting shirts especially this is for her. She doesn't have a design that she promised to anybody so she can do whatever she wants. GRACE FRAGA: I'm just going to put my name like this. See... CHANTELLE TIBBS: Oh, cool. GRACE FRAGA: ...like on a billboard. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Uh-huh. Nice. GRACE FRAGA: I'm having fun with this. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. GRACE FRAGA: And you just kinda like go like this here. CHANTELLE TIBBS: There's no end to the creativity [OVERLAPPING]. GRACE FRAGA: Yeah. And once you start, you kinda want to keep going. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. GRACE FRAGA: And just like kinda paint the whole T-shirt. CHANTELLE TIBBS: And do it all. GRACE FRAGA: So, be careful about that. Don't lose control of yourself. CHANTELLE TIBBS: That's cool. GRACE FRAGA: Cool. CHANTELLE TIBBS: In the next part, we're going to do some touch ups. And what I do for this design, you don't have to if you don't want to. GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: What I do is I do little dotted lines around the finger like that. GRACE FRAGA: Really? CHANTELLE TIBBS: 'Cause it really, really sticks it out. So, this one would be cool if it was light blue and then this could be orange. GRACE FRAGA: Yeah, that would be great. CHANTELLE TIBBS: So, just some final touch-ups to the creativity and the design. Yeah, [SOUNDS LIKE] and we will have fun. So, I'm going to give her--she already has her blue and I'm going to use the orange. GRACE FRAGA: Yes. CHANTELLE TIBBS: But let's--actually, you know what? Let's switch. You can use the orange. GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: And I'll do the blue. That way we're on both sides. GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: So, what I'm going to do with this is--again, I always use--you can get like--if you're using just a little bit of paint, you always take the paint in the top, that's stuck in the top. It's the easiest way to do it so you're not getting anything dirty and you're not doing any more work than you really have to do. So, I'm going to use the bottom of the blue one and she's going to use the orange. And since she likes it so much and I... GRACE FRAGA: I love the orange, and I know you're afraid of it. CHANTELLE TIBBS: I'm afraid of orange but you know what, I'm going to pull it together and get over that. GRACE FRAGA: Oh, good, good. I'm glad. So, you're going to show me how to do it? And then I'll do it. CHANTELLE TIBBS: So, what I'm going to do--just so the folks know that this is hands... GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: ...and that there are some [INDISCERNIBLE] in the fingers is I'm just going to do a dotted line that goes down in here. And that's in everything you'll see in Wear Me Naked designs are a lot of dotted lines and swirlies. I seem to like them. It doesn't have to be perfect. Actually, the more "unperfect" it looks, the more hand painted it looks, and it looks really good. GRACE FRAGA: Yes. And it adds to it. Anything you do adds to it. It finishes the design. I really enjoy this. CHANTELLE TIBBS: And it looks so much fun. It looks good. GRACE FRAGA: It really is. Would you hire me? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah, you're hired. You're already hired. You don't know yet but afterwards, I'm going to hustle you into my company. And I'll get you painting shirts so I can go on a vacation. GRACE FRAGA: Oh, that's awesome. Oh, look. There's a little drop. CHANTELLE TIBBS: That's cool. GRACE FRAGA: That's okay? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah, do you want to put a blue [INDISCERNIBLE]? GRACE FRAGA: Yeah. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Perfect. GRACE FRAGA: There here you go. See? We're making a "boo-boo" into arts. CHANTELLE TIBBS: And I think it's you, if you bleed or you have paint that drop somewhere, a good way to cover it up is if you're using more than one color, if you have a drop of blue paint by accident, you can put a little orange by there. It just looks intentional. GRACE FRAGA: Nice. CHANTELLE TIBBS: And actually, you know what? Like in life, some mistakes can turn out to be pretty beautiful. GRACE FRAGA: Oh, I like that. That's deep. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah.
