The kilick hitch is also known as the timber hitch, its roots coming from loggers using it to tie around fell trees and then drag them out of the woods or wherever. So, if you look down here, you can see that I have my hitching post setup, I'm going to take my line here and I'm going to take it and I'm going to wrap it under and over like so, then I'm going to loop it back around, over the top (let me see if I can get this more in view here). Then wrap it back over the top like so... put a little bit more line on than this, so I've got it where I need it. Then I'm going to twist it, creating an elbow there, then I'm going to create another elbow by twisting it again, like so. And then I'm just going to pull, pull my standing in, to tighten this up. And this will tighten the noose up real good and tight around that, creating a nice, tight hitch on that. Now I'm going to take it over here and basically I'm going to create a half hitch here. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take my line and because my line is a lot shorter, I'm going to take it and just wrap it all the way around and then back through and over, creating a half-hitch here. That waythis can be pulled and dragged, and then when it's done, you can just release it and pull it loose. And there is your timber hitch.
