A Clove Hitch Tied into a Bight is a really easy hitch to make if you have something with an open end in which you can loop it over. It can withstand a lot of jerking and tension put on to it, but what will also happen is it will also tend to bind it really tight so this is something to remember when you are actually using this hitch. As you can see here I have got my hitching that I am going to use right here, my piece of wood. I am going to take my length of rope right here and pull out a little bit and take it and make just a little loop in it like this where my working end is going to come under my standing end as you can see here. What I am going to do is take my working end once again and pull it under my standing end. Now I've got two loops like this and what I am going to do is basically lay one loop over the top of the other one and you can see my working end comes up underneath the loop here and I slide both of these loops underneath my wood and as I pull them, and work with it just a little bit, this square wood is going to keep it from really tightening up good but this will tighten really nice and tight and the more I pull and jerk on it the more it will tighten also binding my rope.
