How to Tie Figure Eight Hitch

A hitch is a great way to tie a line or a rope to an already standing piece of something that's already there and secure. Like such, a line, a post, hitching post, for example. What we've got down here, as you can see, is that I've got my own made hitching post here. Nice square hitching post. What I'm going to do is I'm going to take my line and I'm show you the Figure of Eight Hitch. What it's going to do is it's going to come over my hitching post, like so, and around then it's going to come across it here over the part of my standing line. I'm going to bring it back under my standing line. Now you can see the figure of 8 has already started. Just to secure this, I'm going to bring this back through my initial loop and as I tighten it. It is very reminiscence of a half hitch but a lot more secure as you can see here. Let's do that one more time just to make sure we've got this. Do it over and under my post. We'll wrap it back over the standing end, over my twist I've got here, and back through my initial loop creating my Figure of Eight and just pulling it. There we go, there's a better way to see it. Our Figure of Eight's Hitch.
