How to Use Flat Irons

Hi! I'm Amelia and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'll be talking to you about using thermal styling tools. It's very important that whenever you use the flat iron, you always have a comb. You always want to grab your section. It doesn't need to be a super fine section, just depending on how straight you're wanting your hair. If you just want to give the illusion of straightness or if you're just wanting to kind of smooth that top layer, you can grab a section that's about an inch. You really don't want that section any larger than your fingers. Make the peace sign and put your fingers there. You don't want that section any larger than that. I?m going to draw up some of this hair. Always comb the hair out because you don't want to flat iron over a knot. Take the flat iron, go over the hair once and twice. If you have any areas that you've gotten especially frizzy spot. Most people tend to be frizzier up by their scalp. You don't need to focus on the ends so much. Just go in and hit that spot. You don't necessarily have to run the flat iron over. You can just pull the flat iron on that spot. After you flat iron the hair, comb it and that will help set it straight. Again, you grab your section, you comb it first, bring the iron through the hair. It usually takes 2 swipes. Comb it and you've got a nice straight piece of hair. That's how you use a flat iron.
