Salsa Dance Posture for Beginners

Hi! This is Leslie Sack for expertvillage.com. You can visit my website at lesliesack.com. We are doing the Salsa posture and how to hold your partner, how you hold your friend. So we are going to start showing you how to look and feel like a dancer. Everybody's arms up in the air, so it lift you hold center up and your hearts lift up. You are going to pretend you are at the gym, grab that bar and you are going to do that pull down, okay. So you let your shoulders down and your back working and what you are going to do is bring your elbows forward like you are doing a peck exercise. You got both of your elbows in front of you, you got your back working, got your stomach working and if you are a leader, your right hand drops down on your shoulder blade, left hand will be holding on like this. If you are a girl, it is the opposite. All right, so arms up, shoulders down, elbows in front of you and now you look like you are dancing. Okay, so when you are dancing with your partner what you want to be doing is I am just going to us the wall as a pretend partner and I got my partner in front of you and I want to lean forward for my ankles. Okay, we don't want this. We want to lift up just like you are doing and you are going to lean in to your partner just a little bit so you can connect with your partner through the palms of your hands. You always want to feel connected to your partner through your center and if your center is towards your partner more, you are going to feel more connected. All right. So every where you go, you are going to have a slight forward feeling whenever you are doing your Salsa.
