How to Dry Painted T-Shirt

GRACE FRAGA: You're watching Expert Village and I'm your host, Grace Fraga for arts and crafts and everything fun. And I'm here with Chantelle Tibbs who just showed us how to make your own t-shirt at the lowest possible cost. So, Chantelle, when did you start making t-shirts? CHANTELLE TIBBS: I started making t-shirts when I was, let's say, 19. I'm 24 now. So I started making t-shirts then. GRACE FRAGA: Wow. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah, and I came up with this really cool company name and I had a partner at the time who was doing graphic design, but she ended up leaving and I was so sad. I was like, "What am I going to do?" So, I ended up playing around with stencils and this is how this all came. I remember the first time I did it like the stencil bled a little bit and I was crying. I was like, "My goodness." GRACE FRAGA: Oh, no. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Very emotional, dramatic and... GRACE FRAGA: We've all been there. Yeah, it's like having a marriage partner, you know? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Mmm-hmm. GRACE FRAGA: When you have a partner in business and when they abandon you, it is like, "I'm by myself now." But this inspired you to actually make it better and more cost effective for you. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. And the abandonment just did nothing but pretty much create the whole aura and theme of the company. So, it started to work out. It's really, really good. And like I said before, I was stenciling... GRACE FRAGA: Yes. CHANTELLE TIBBS: ...and I was making styles like, "Oh my goodness." And I had a retail job when I realized everybody who's corporate is trying to make things look more artistic. If you look out right now, people want that special attention to their stuff. You want to feel special. You're paying money for a shirt, you should feel like somebody handcrafted it for you to a certain degree. GRACE FRAGA: Yes, and why Wear Me Naked? What inspired that name? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Wear Me Naked, I remember I wanted to put "Wear Me" and I think there's a company out there that's already called "Wear Me." And I was like, "Come on, Chantelle. Come on, Chantelle. You can do it. You can do it. You can do it." I was like, "Wear Me Naked, that's what you do with clothes. You wear them naked." And it's also very provocative in the word naked, brings attention... GRACE FRAGA: Yes. CHANTELLE TIBBS: ...to itself. GRACE FRAGA: Absolutely. CHANTELLE TIBBS: So, it's kind of a clever way. And I mean that's what you do with clothes. GRACE FRAGA: Sex and naked are big sellers. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. GRACE FRAGA: Yeah, so you picked the right name. That's great. It caught my attention. I don't wear it naked. I wear underwear but that's okay. I'm an old woman. So, great to have you on the show, thank you for explaining to us how to make our own t-shirts. And we are going to be back with Chantelle for other aspects of making your own t-shirt. So, next you will see that.
