How to Touch Up a Painted T-Shirt

GRACE FRAGA: And we're back and we're going to fix the boo-boos on the t-shirt. CHANTELLE TIBBS: We were lucky we don't have many. There are just a few things. Some spots where the paint didn't come through as much as I would've liked. GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take my fine brush the way I spoke so important. GRACE FRAGA: So, you either have too much paint or too little paint. Those are the major boo-boos, right? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to fix this one right here where it bled. Again, it's going to have a steady hand to use this. If you're not somebody that has a steady hand, find somebody that does have a steady hand, because you don't want to mess up something you took so long to do. GRACE FRAGA: Exactly. CHANTELLE TIBBS: So, yeah, I'm just going to go over the ones that aren't. I'm not going to be able to show you any Shout-Wipe situations, 'cause we got really, really lucky here. GRACE FRAGA: Yeah, you did a great job. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Again, another good thing about hand painting, hand stenciling, even hand screen printing, 'cause there is a form where you can just do it yourself and lay over the screen once you've set the image on the screen. So, I mean, it just makes your design so much more personal. GRACE FRAGA: Oh, absolutely. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. GRACE FRAGA: You're really hand painting. This is like a work of art. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. And again, my market is San Francisco and like the city, I mean, 'cause these days they want to see that. You know, anybody can run a design and get it sent off to a machine, and I have no problem with those designs. I think for certain corporations or certain designs you do need that kind of perfection to it, and that's cool. But this is just--it's a more fun way. It's a more personal way. When somebody to wear a shirt then know that somebody really sat there with a brush and just went over it for you. That's the fun part. GRACE FRAGA: Absolutely. Makes it--you feel special. CHANTELLE TIBBS: And again, it's Wear Me Naked. That's our style. If you're a more corporate person, I don't mean to offend you but this is better. GRACE FRAGA: So you're going to finish fixing the whole thing? We don't need any Shouts today? But if you do, what are the tips to use a Shout? CHANTELLE TIBBS: If you ever need a Shout, you make a mistake. Open this puppy up, whatever your mistake is as quick as you can, five, four, three, two, one, you open this little big and you shish, shish, shish, scrub, scrub, scrub and scrub. GRACE FRAGA: Terrific. CHANTELLE TIBBS: I mean, you're going to want to make sure once the stain is out that you dry it. Just dry it really quick with the hairdryer, so wherever it's wet, but... GRACE FRAGA: So, wipe and dry. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. So this is what a Shout Wipe looks like. GRACE FRAGA: Yes. And what happens if you're wiping and it bleeds a little bit and you can't get it all out and there's like a little black stain there? CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. See, that kinda happen and Shout Wipes work well on darker color shirts actually. When you get a light shirt, you might get lucky enough. You might get that stain out... GRACE FRAGA: Okay. CHANTELLE TIBBS: ...you might not. So, again, that's when I turn it into a sort of interpretation of design or you want to start again on another shirt, so... GRACE FRAGA: Definitely. So, Chantelle is now almost finished with the t-shirt, and she's going to teach us next what we have to do to finish this baby up.
