How to Paint a T-Shirt

CHANTELLE TIBBS: Okay. So, I'm finishing up the painting here. This design took like not even a minute. It's like uhh, it's easy. Some of them take a little bit longer, so be patient. And now, like I promised you, I'm going to hand paint that spiral in the center. GRACE FRAGA: Great. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. So every spiral looks different if you're ever ordering this design from Wear Me Naked, you know. I sit down and I paint it for you [OVERLAPPING] GRACE FRAGA: So, they're all one of a kind. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Uh-huh. Yeah. GRACE FRAGA: So, we need to focus with this now. How do you know when this is going to be dry, a little bit dry so you can take the stencil off? CHANTELLE TIBBS: You actually don't need to take the stencil off when it's dry. But you want to be careful and you want to make sure that you're being careful when you take the tape off, just so you don't, again, Shout mistakes. GRACE FRAGA: Mess it up, exactly. 'Cause the paint is still fresh. So you don't want to mess it up, but this is so cool. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah, the paint is still fresh. And you also want to make sure that when you're taking the design off that you're not wasting too much time. You don't let it sit there because it might dry to your tweener. So, you don't want the paint to be wet and then dry to your tweener, 'cause then you're going to have some cardboard on the inside of your shirt. And that's a mistake that, again, you'll experience a lot of mistakes. It's actually quite comical. So, but, yeah, you don't want to do that. Then especially these people will dry with the hairdryer to the tweener and like, [SOUNDS LIKE] "Oh, jij, oh!" and then you're not getting it out. It's like glue. GRACE FRAGA: Oh. So, be careful. That's a warning. Be careful when you dry it. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Yeah. Make sure when you're drying it that that tweener is out of there. And you're going to want to dry it then I'll make touch ups, but we'll go over that in a second. GRACE FRAGA: Nice. So you have a great hand. 'Cause I would've made probably a square by now than circle. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Well, I used the circle of the stencil as a guide as well, so... GRACE FRAGA: So, Chantelle is finishing up her spiral in the center. She's hand painting that. So, each t-shirt is an individual work of art made just for you. So, you can do the same at home. CHANTELLE TIBBS: Again, that's Wear Me Naked. You don't have to hand paint anything and especially if you want to run a mass number; if you're running over a certain amount, it's time to screen print. Sorry. Now that there's anything wrong with screen printing. GRACE FRAGA: I hear you.
