How to Play an American Drum Grip with Rods

JOEL SEIGEL: So, you also have your American grip when it comes to the hot rod. And it's the same principle. You'll find yourself using this a bit with the full stroke again. Again, with doing some tom work or if you've been doing some kind of complex beat, integrating the toms, the snare, cymbals, etcetera. So, this is your American grip with the up, down and full stroke. And just notice how different the sound of the rod is compared with the stick.
